Snapped belt-drive belt: Update

Hi there!
A short update on my snapped belt drive belt:
New belt costs about 250 euro and the belt is supposed to last minimum of 80,000 kilometers! So the 30,000 mine lasted is way too short. Maybe old age.
I drive around again safely, though now I have a minor drive-shaft oil leak. Maybe the belt is set too tight?
Anyway, I'm rolling again.
